The vinyl edition of the album “Chapters” featuring cover artwork, vinyl record and sleeve notes including digital download. Each album will be personally signed by Tom. Tom sees the album as an art form and would like to invite you to listen to the complete album. The sleeve notes will talk you through each song, the writing of the song, the music, the production and the highlights to listen in each song. It will talk you through the track order and why song is where it is on the album.
As Tom says, “This collection of songs was always written as an album. When I was writing each song there were ideas for the next song that came naturally based on the song I had just written. So there would be times when I wrote an acoustic and think that the next song should be an electric rock guitar track. So the creative process starts write at the origin of making the album. There are themes and there are stories and the album is brought together as the songs evolve. Sometimes the tracks are in the order they were written, other times I will think about how they sit together musically or based on the lyrics or themes. In terms of the musical journey I think about the introduction to the album, and development and the end, much like a book or a film. From track to track I think about textures, tempo, key changes. It is about a journey with changing views along the way. The greatest compliment someone could pay me is for them to take some time to enjoy that journey and listen to the album from start to finish. I know that is difficult these days but I hope to make it an experience in mindfulness. The notes sit along side to accompany you in that experience. In that way I hope listeners can truly experience each song which represent a time in my life, a chapter in my life that is brought together in this album. These are chapters of my life.
